Spirulina is a blue green algae that can be used topically in luxury skincare or taken as a dietary supplement

"What's spirulina?" I hear some of you ask. It's a blue-green algae that grows in fresh and salt water - sounds a little unusual as to why you would use it for anything, doesn't it? I'll be honest, if you open a big tub of it, it does smell a bit like seaweed, but in small quantities or blended with another ingredient the scent isn't noticeable.

Spirulina is a powerhouse of nutrients containing more protein and iron than most vegetables! You can add spirulina to smoothies, energy balls or salads and this is a fantastic vegan ingredient. There's an array of fun and interesting recipes online (including chocolate drizzled energy balls!) if you're looking to try a greener & cleaner diet.

In the last couple of years however it has become increasingly popular in the skincare industry because of the exceptional benefits.

Rich in gamma-linolenic acid, antioxidants and phytonutrients, this beautiful green powder calms inflammation, clears skin by eliminating dead skin cells, flushes out toxins and promotes the growth of new skin cells. It doesn't end there, the vitamin E and tyrosine content has been found to help slow down the signs of ageing and help even out skin pigmentation and it is great for acne prone skin.

Of course the spirulina we use is environmentally safe and responsibly sourced. Like all of our ingredients, it has never been tested on animals and is strictly compliant with all UK and EU cosmetic regulations.
